On Tuesday we went to another Dr. appointment and I was surprised when they said again, they would do another ultrasound. I am now 16 weeks. He asked us if we wanted to find out the sex of the babies, which of course we did but didn't really expect. We did know that we wanted this to be a family surprise, all at the same time, so we had him write down the sexes on a paper in a sealed envelope, without telling us. Once that was done, I was so nervous because now it was very real. We kept talking about how we wanted to have the 'reveal', but it was difficult to decide. Two days later we had our plan. We gave Mom our envelope, so she got to open it before anyone else! She then went to the bakery and bought some muffins and had them label 'B' in blue or "G' in pink on the top of each muffin. Then she put them in a large box and brought it over to house. We told the kids our plan so they were very excited, I think we all had a hard time sleeping that night. We all put our guesses on the white board (BTW, nobody guessed right). The next morning we made a special, big breakfast; hash browns, sausage, eggs, waffles & cream, and THE muffins. Once everything was ready we set it all on the table, we all gathered around and Brian started the video camera. It felt so weird knowing that in one moment we would know, I was very emotional and already started crying. I cut the tape on the edges of the box and then slowly lifted the lid....ALL the muffins had a 'B' on them! Both boys?!! What?! Dallin yells out triumphantly, "Yes!" and all the girls smile but are a bit disappointed not to have a baby girl. We laughed and hugged and couldn't believe it, and also felt very relieved to finally know. Wow. What an emotional charge! It didn't take long though before everyone was warmed up to the idea and excited about having two boys to play with. Emily says she is so happy to have more boys as long as they are as cute as Isaac. We all turn and look at Isaac, he is oblivious to what is going on, and has bright blue frosting in a perfect circle around his entire mouth. It was hilarious. So, this journey has been an unexpected one from the beginning and it continues to surprise us and keeps us on our toes. We feel very blessed! We love each of you and feel grateful to have you share in this special time with us, despite many other hardships happening. We love each of you. Please share any ideas you have for boy names, you all know how difficult boy names are for me....and now two? I'm already feeling anxious about it. |
Wow! What a fun way to find out. We are so excited for you both and can't wait to meet them. Jenny and Brian, you both have been greatly blessed. Love you both!
this is sally. i think finding boy names is challenging too. twin names could make it more fun though. didn't we challenge each other to the name of james? you could name on james and one jim. then you could just pick one name you'll call them both. saves calling them to dinner a second or two...
The only names I can ever think of when I see this post are silly ones, but I'd love to sit in on a real brainstorming session. I think naming kids is so hard - good luck!
